Our Story
A brief history of Classic Christian Rock Radio/CCRock Radio

The Beginning
2001
Mr. Bill reads an article in a technology magazine about Live365, and that provides the inspiration for him to start an internet station called High Desert Christian Rock, playing current Christian rock music. He had just recently developed an interest in Christian rock music due to his son's involvement in a Christian band.

The Transition
2004
As Mr. Bill added music to the station's library, he began to develop an interest in the history of Christian rock music. At the time there were almost no stations playing what we would call "classic Christian rock" music. So on April 6, 2004 he pulled the plug on High Desert Christian Rock and started Classic Christian Rock Radio.

Live Show Begins
2006
In 2006, Mr. Bill began doing live shows at night twice a week (for a brief period he did them three times a week). The station's library was extremely limited at the time, but Mr. Bill slowly began building the library as the years went by.

Syndicated Shows Added
2012
Special programs, including a few syndicated shows, were added to the weekend schedule. Also ministry spots began airing on the station.

Fundraisers Begin
2016
Royalty fees for internet stations go up dramatically, the original Live365 goes under, and Mr. Bill begins doing a once a year fundraiser to help with the increased costs of running the station.

Geoff Cooper Joins The Staff
2017
Long time listener Geoff Cooper is added as an additional DJ. He is given the nick name "The G-Man" some years later by Mr. Bill. In November 2017 Geoff starts doing artist interviews which are featured on the Time Machine program. In 2018 a podcast is added featuring Geoff's interviews.

Radio Coalition
2019
In May, Classic Christian Rock Radio joins Radio Coalition, a non profit organization of webcasters. The move helped to lower the cost of running the station. This association lasted until December 2021 when Radio Coalition decided to cease operations.

Move To Colorado
2020
In March of 2020 Mr. Bill moves to Colorado Springs, and that becomes the new home base for Classic Christian Rock Radio.

Stephen D. Joins The Staff
2021
In November 2021, Stephen D. comes on board as an additional DJ, and he begins hosting his show "The Rockpile" two nights a week.

Classic Christian Rock Radio Becomes A Non Profit
2022
February 2022 Classic Christian Rock Radio officially becomes Classic Christian Rock Radio Inc., a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation. This allows the station to operate independently and to take advantage of lower royalty costs for non profit organizations.

The Wildman Joins The Staff
2023
In August 2023, The Wildman joins Classic Christian Rock Radio. He starts out doing Saturday shows, but is currently heard doing "Wild Wednesday" on Wednesday afternoons. He occasionally interviews artists, but his most frequent guest is his former podcast partner Steve Perkins.

CCRock Radio Is Born
2024
In January 2024 the station takes on the shortened name of CCRock Radio with a new URL (ccrockradio.net) and a new logo. Legally it's still known as Classic Christian Rock Radio. In May, CCRock Radio releases it's first ever dedicated mobile app.
